Professor Cummings is director of marketing communications for the Erie Regional Chamber & Growth Partnership, a 501(c)3 corporation focused on business attraction, retention and expansion in northwest Pennsylvania. He is the chief marketing communications strategist for the corporation, directing its regional integrated marketing communications program and global business attraction marketing strategy. Prior to his appointment at the Chamber, he served as director of communications for two public school systems in Pittsburgh.
Cummings entered communications after an award-winning career in radio broadcasting as an announcer/producer at commercial stations WJET-FM and WXKC-FM in the Erie, Pennsylvania market. In 2000, he was selected as a fellow with the International Radio and Television Society (IRTS) in New York City - working at the CBS Broadcast Center in Manhattan and earning the prestigious Dick Clark Fellowship award from the IRTS/Radio Advertising Bureau. Cummings is also a professional freelance voice talent for radio and television commercials and corporate narrations with multimedia clients in Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and New York.
A native of northwest Pennsylvania, Professor Cummings is a graduate of West Virginia University's IMC program. In addition to his masters, Cummings earned a bachelor of arts in communications from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and also studied at the graduate level at Seton Hall University in strategic communication and the University of Nebraska in education administration.
