is the imc program for me?

Please answer the questions honestly -- if you're considering the IMC program, it's very important to first determine whether or not the online learning environment is right for you.

1. My need to enter the IMC program is:

  1. High - I need to enter the program immediately to meet a personal or professional goal.
  2. Moderate - I could enter the program in a year or two.
  3. Low - My admission could be postponed for several years.

2. When it comes to technology:

  1. I have excellent computer and Internet skills.
  2. I have average computer and Internet skills.
  3. I am unfamiliar with the computer and do not feel comfortable using the Internet.

3. Interacting with students and instructors face-to-face is:

  1. Not particularly important to me.
  2. Somewhat important to me.
  3. Very important to me.

4. I would classify myself as someone who:

  1. Often completes a project ahead of schedule.
  2. Needs to be reminded to finish a project on time.
  3. Puts a project off until the last minute or doesn’t complete it at all.

5. Classroom discussion is:

  1. Rarely helpful to me.
  2. Sometimes helpful to me.
  3. Almost always helpful to me.

6. When an instructor gives directions for an assignment, I prefer to:

  1. Figure out the instructions on my own.
  2. Attempt to follow the instructions on my own, then ask if I need help.
  3. Have the instructions thoroughly explained to me.

7. As a writer, I would classify myself as:

  1. Above average -- I have an excellent grasp of the English language.
  2. Average -- I have fairly good grasp of the English language.
  3. Below average -- I am not fluent in the English language.

8. To perform at my best, I need to receive instructor comments on homework assignments:

  1. Within a few weeks.
  2. Within a week.
  3. Within two or three days.

9. With my personal and professional schedule, the amount of time I have to spend per course in the IMC program is:

  1. 12-15 hours per week.
  2. 8-11 hours per week.
  3. Less than 8 hours per week.

  2. Average -- I am sometimes a critical thinker.

  1. I enjoy working in teams and am comfortable with the idea of collaborating online.
  2. I am unsure about being part of an online team, but will participate fully if required.
  3. I don't enjoy working in teams and am uncomfortable with the idea of collaborating online.

13. As a reader, I would classify myself as:

  1. Above average -- I read quickly and understand most content without help.
  2. Average -- I read at a moderate pace and sometimes need help understanding what I'm reading.
  3. Below average -- I read at a slower pace and often need help understanding what I'm reading.

14. When it comes to computer access:

  1. I have an accessible computer at home.
  2. I have an accessible computer at work, but not at home.
  3. I do not have an accessible computer at work or at home.
