course technology

IMC students comment on how easy it is to log in to the WVU eCampus system and do their coursework. As long as you meet the minimum equipment requirements, you should have a similar experience. You will need Internet access with a modem speed of at least 56K, though high-speed service is recommended.

Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel are required for all courses in the program. Adobe Acrobat Reader is also necessary, and a program that converts documents to PDF format may be useful. Some courses also may require such specific courseware as Adobe Photoshop or SPSS. All students are strongly encouraged to have the latest version of virus protection software (e.g., Symantec AntiVirus, MacAfee Virus Protection) installed on their systems. All IMC students can down load Symantec AntiVirus for free, here.

Though no specific operating system or memory capacities are required, students are strongly encouraged to have access to a system with industry-standard capability.  If you experience difficulty because your system or software is outdated or because of a virus, that will not be considered an acceptable reason for failing to complete discussion posts or homework assignments. A complete list of University recommended computer specifications can be found on the Technology Support Center’s Web site.
